Für Alberto - Man killed by deputies predicted his own death. By Amy C. Rippel, Sentinel Staff Writer, May 24, 2005. In the moments leading up to a fatal shooting of a knife-wielding man by Orange County deputies early Saturday, the 49-year-old man said he was going to die, a Sheriff's Office report said. Alberto T. Rodriguez-Sobrino and his wife, Vanessa Castillo-Del Rodriguez, 32, argued about 1 a.m. Saturday at their apartment in the Brittany at Waterford Lakes complex. He was grabbing his wife's arms and wrists and tried to force his wife to kiss him, Castillo-Del Rodriguez's daughter, Mishelle Castillo, 12, told deputies. Reports said Castillo-Del Rodriguez, who is three months' pregnant, called 911. That's when Mishelle heard Rodriguez-Sobrino say, " . . .I know somebody is going to die today, and I know that is going to be me." "[Rodriguez-Sobrino] then went into the kitchen and grabbed the knives. He went into the living room and sat on the couch with the knives," the report said. After meeting with Castillo-Del Rodriguez, deputies determined that Rodriguez-Sobrino should be arrested on a charge of felony domestic battery, authorities said. When deputies went to the second-floor apartment, Rodriguez-Sobrino came at them with a knife in each hand, the Sheriff's Office said. One deputy tried to stop Rodriguez-Sobrino with a Taser, but it had no effect, and he was shot, the Sheriff's Office said. Reports said it's unclear how many times Rodriguez-Sobrino was shot. A doctor who treated Rodriguez-Sobrino at Florida Hospital East before he died said he had several wounds, although it was not clear if they were entry or exit wounds. The wounds were in his left calf, thigh, knee and chest area. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting. Deputies Robbie King, a sworn officer for five years, and Brian Dischuk, hired about seven months ago, were placed on administrative leave. Deputy Todd Barton, who used the stun gun on Rodriguez-Sobrino, was not placed on leave. Records show that Rodriguez-Sobrino moved to Orlando in the past few years from Puerto Rico. In October, the Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested him on a domestic-violence battery charge, but the first-degree misdemeanor charge was later dropped, FDLE records show. In November, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office arrested him on a charge of driving under the influence, and he was later found guilty, court records show. 2005, Orlando Sentinel
